Us

Cory---Cory has been working super overtime at work getting ready for 121 to open. For those of you that don't know, 121 is a highway that the NTTA is taking over to make a toll road. 121 opens today and as we speak Cory is out making sure everything is working and going smooth. He has been working about 75-80 hours a week for the last 2 weeks. So I have had a ton of alone time---thank goodness for Logan and Winston!!!!
Summer---I started school on Monday. I am only taking 12 hrs this semester because I am taking a condensed math class where I earn 6 credits/hrs in 1 semester. Since math does not come easy for me I wanted to give myself the best chance to make a good grade. I am also taking an education class where I have to volunteer to help under privileged children in my community. My final class is at TWU, this is my first class there. I am very excited because this class is a Library Science class. Basically, I get to read a ton of children's books. There is more to it than just reading but that is the funnest part. This class is going to be hard work but fun as well. I went to the library yesterday and checked out 18 children's book ranging from simple picture books all the way up to adolescence. I had great help from the children's librarian and I am excited to read some of her recommendations. If I come across a great book I will let ya'll know.

The worst is behind me!!!

"Doom's day" has come and gone. My mouth has 4 less teeth. The surgery only took about 30 minutes, but I was back there for about an hour because I was waking up from the knock you out medicine. I don't remember anything, except what happened before I "fell asleep". I was very nervous and wanted the Dr. or nurses to explain what was happening and what they were doing, but apparently they were in a hurry. At least that is how I felt. Aren't they suppose to count to 3 before they stick you with a needle!!!!
I wasn't in much pain right after the surgery because I was still numb. The nurses told Cory to give me some pain medicine(Vicodin) when we got home just to make sure I would not be in pain. I thought to myself---this is not so bad. Boy did I say that to soon.....after two doses of the Vicodin I started to get that feeling you get right before you throw-up. I was cold, then hot, then weak and just plain miserable. I kept saying to myself----don't throw-up, don't throw-up. A mouth full of holes and gauze and throw-up don't mix well. So after my bad Vicodin experience I decided I would rather be in immense pain than go through the ordeal of throwing-up again. Advil became my new best friend. However it did not do much for the pain--it just took the edge off. Each day the pain worsened, I assumed it's what came with the territory. Apparently I was wrong, when I went back for my check-up 6 days after my my surgery---I found out I had dry socket. The Dr. had warned me about this but did not tell me any of the symptoms. So basically, I lived through the worst pain in my life to find out there was a solution. WHATEVER!!!! At the check-up the Dr. put this stuff in my holes to numb the pain for about 12 hours. I was able to eat and sleep for the first time in 6 days. It was wonderful. Its been 2 1/2 weeks and the only time it is uncomfortable is when I have to clean out my holes with warm salt water with this funky syringe. I am soooooo happy it is over!!!!!

What's been going on...

Many of you know I was suppose to get my wisdom teeth pulled a few weeks ago but......I ended up getting sick and had a high fever so my appointment was rescheduled to this Friday( 8/15)or DOOM'S DAY as I have been calling it. I am very apprehensive and not looking forward to it at all. I know everything will be fine---it's the unknown I'm anxious about. I start school August 25th so I hope I'm not still swollen and feel back to normal.

We went out on the boat again this past Sunday and I did not drink a gallon of water before we went so that was a good thing:) We were out for a majority of the day, it felt cooler than the Sunday before. Oh yeah, I almost died!!!!!!!! My sister, Julie and I were the first ones to ride this new raft thing we got, it's called Big Bertha(Google it). We were both on the top riding along enjoying the new experience when all of a sudden we were thrown off when the boat was turning(at an extremely high speed). Julie was the one on the bottom and I was the one on the top at the turn, so I had further to fly to touch the water. It happened so fast I didn't have time to take a deep breath before the force of Big Bertha pushed me under the water. I went head first into the water which felt like concrete. I am so thankful I had a life vest on!!!!!! It was very scary!! But I'm alive:) Cory went next by himself and had a blast. Big Bertha was nicer to him. Brad went after Cory and had fun too. We learned that it is probably better to ride alone, especially if you want to survive. We also found this nice beach area in a cove thats shaded, it also has a path from the beach to an area where you can picnic and camp out. We might rent this spot in the future when more people can come. Here are a few pictures from Sunday.

All smiles!!!!

Julie and I taking it easy

This is Big Bertha(seats 4)---Julie and I were sitting up on the sides with our legs in the center. When we turned it flipped over throwing us off with out warning. NOT my idea of fun!!!!!

One exciting weekend

On Sunday we took a trip to Lake Ray Roberts to work on our tans. We had a ton of fun. I learned one thing: don't drink alot of water before you go. Waves and a full bladder don't mix well.
